For Visitors Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive listening devices are available for museum programs and special events. Please place requests in advance by calling 212.620.5000 x344 or by email at Boxoffice@rmanyc.org.

American Sign Language Tours

Deaf Guides offer American Sign Language tours of the museum's collection specifically designed for individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing. These tours afford all of our visitors a chance to learn about the cultures, history, religions, and sacred art of the Himalayan region.

Tours meet in the spiral lobby of the museum and last about one hour.  If you have questions, please contact the Manager of Visitor Experience and Access Programs at 212.620.5000 x354.

Access @ the Rubin Museum

Access at the RubinAccess @ the Rubin Museum is a new video series that aims to offer engaging, accessible video content around our exhibitions, tours, and programs. The first batch of videos covers the exhibition Gateway to Himalayan Art. Here Guthrie Nutter leads an introductory walk-through of the exhibition as well as a basic overview of the museum, all in American Sign Language.
