Admission to the galleries is free from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. There is no cover charge for K2 Lounge.

K2 Lounge
Every Friday night Serai becomes the K2 Lounge, offering a special Pan Asian Tapas menu to accompany the evening's DJ and unique thematic gallery tours and programs. Happy Hour runs from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a 2-for-1 special on all beer, wine and well drinks*.

* Specialty cocktails and martinis are not included; cannot be combined with other offers.

Reservations
The K2 Lounge accepts group reservations, subject to availability, from 6:00 p.m. until closing. Please contact the Special Events team at 212.620.5000 x294 or email Special Events.

Live Music
At 7:00 p.m. enjoy the museum's celebrated music series Naked Soul and
Harlem in the Himalayas.

Films
At 9:30 p.m. be sure to catch Cabaret Cinema, where movies and martinis mix. Each film is introduced by a notable guest to provide context. Past presenters have included Liv Ullmann, Brian Cox, Vito Acconci, and Alan Cumming.


Artists on Art

Contemporary artists lead informal, topical talks within the museum's galleries on Friday nights at 6:15 p.m.

In conversation with Assistant Curator Beth Citron, speakers from New York and international contemporary art scenes interact with and informally discuss the rich artistic traditions of the Himalayas and surrounding regions in relation to their own practices and processes.

Monthly Resident DJs 

DJ Tyger Lilly

Tyger Lilly's unconditional love for music was passed down from her grandfather, well-known jazz musician Jarius Elliott. She is constantly influenced by her surroundings, and such greats as Miles Davis, Nina Simone, and Fela Kuti. Tyger is one of the few artists to successfully blend the core of hip-hop and house with the glamour of mainstream.

DJ Kamala

DJ and music stylist, Kamala has played professionally at many of New York City's best venues, underground parties, and special events for over a decade. Best known for her deep soulful house music sets, her musical taste spans many genres and eras including Global Lounge, Nu-Soul, as well as R&B, Soul, Salsa, and Dance classics from the 70's and 80's.

DJ Don Cerati

DJ/Producer Don Cerati is an extremely eclectic man when it comes to life and music. His sets consist of House, Latin, Funk, Brazilian, Afrobeat, Disco, Reggae, World Lounge, Cumbia, Dub, Tropical Bass, and everything in between.

DJ Eddie STATS

Edwin STATS Houghton is a full-time DJ and music journalist who has been instrumental in bringing international sounds—from Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and South Asia—into the urban domain.

DJ Small Change

$mall ¢hange (aka James Dier) is a musical addict who's been collecting and DJ-ing for over 15 years. He has played in every conceivable downtown venue you can think of such as APT, Nublu, Hiro, Supreme Trading, Cielo, and Pianos.

DJ KindB

Trained as a classical pianist, DJ KindB crossed-over into the DJ circuit over 10 years ago. KindB’s style has resulted in a wide range that spans global electronic music, from Brazilian and Afro-Latin beats to Arabic and Asian grooves.

  • The museum is closed on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Day.
