From Cover to Cover (Begins May 4 - June 29, 2012)

A film series to complement the exhibition Illuminated: The Art of Sacred Books, From Cover to Cover highlights films that hold books central to the plot as well as films that play out book related proverbs and sayings from around the world. For example, we are showing Double Indemnity, a film noir about a woman and her intentions to kill her husband to receive twice the proceeds of an accident insurance policy under a double indemnity clause.   We can gather a lesson in trust: “It is better to be entirely without a book than to believe it entirely” (Chinese proverb). Other films included in this series include The Big Sleep (May 11), Pasolini's The Gospel According to Saint Matthew (May 25), The Neverending Story (June 1) and The Secret of Kells (June 15).

Members may reserve Cabaret Cinema tickets in advance by calling 212.620.5000 x344.  Tickets will be held no later than 9:30 PM.

Members at the Sustaining level and above may reserve cabaret tables in advance.
